Lighting the way in our Skin treatment

LED light therapy is an absolutely AMAZING treatment that we offer at Skin Wellness Clinic.

You can appreciate LED as a standalone treatment or upgrade your treatment and include it as an add on.

But what is this glorious treatment and who will it benefit?

Let’s first break it right down, LED was discovered in the 1960s but was re-hyped in the early 2000, it

stands for light emitting diode which is pretty much a “non thermal light”. The light is delivered into the

skin to create positive change and assist with the skin concern at hand.

Some of the buzz words include, anti-inflammatory, destructs bacteria, creates tissue repair,

rejuvenating and many more.

Our blue light is a shorter wavelength that targets more superficial issues within the skin. The light itself is

believed to form free radicals which breakdown bacteria that causes acne. It also stimulates

leukocytes (white blood cells) that are immune fighting. Acne is usually linked to an impaired

barrier which can be caused by too much sebaceous oil OR too little oil, leading to increased dryness.

The superficial blue light can help balance and increase hydration. Acne/pimple fighters, this ones for you!

Red Light is a slightly longer wavelength, therefore a deeper penetration through the skin. The photons of the light are absorbed by the mitochondria, our skin cells “brain and power”, which creates energy. This energy is fantastic for overall skin renewal and anti-aging, healing post breakouts when bacteria isn’t involved, and also great to enhance and accelerate the skin after advance treatments.

So, when is the best time to LED your skin?

Honestly, with every treatment, but here’s some extra guidance.

Concerns of Redness - rosacea and increased skin sensitivity can come in different waves, If you are a rosacea client, our goal is to strengthen the skin, which includes treatments like advance and base peels, basic facials and potentially, skin needling. Doing an LED in between each treatment can enhance

your long-term results.

Acne - Acne is acne, it can be uncomfortable, stubborn and hard work. With treatments it helps with

cell turnover and ingredients assisting with factors contributing to the skin situation. It’s a great alternative when we are feeling more cystic, have increased sensitivity and are sore to the touch. Doing an LED package is exactly what you need. This decreases pressure on the skin to then allow it to assist with healing.

Sometimes a little LED and gut work helps wonders!

Aging- As we age, everything begins to slow down, our red LED is fantastic at getting the skin to

work and function better, this can help with our collagen, brightness of cells and an all over, better tone. We

would recommend every third treatment to include LED.
